Sophie Ellis-Bextor and other celebrities donate their iconic wardrobe to The Eve Appeal and The Salvation Army
On Friday 4th July, the infamous Declutter Dollies known for helping to sort the lives of many, hosted their second pre-loved sale, named Shop the Dance Floor alongside the Reloved Club at Chiswick Hall in London. Customers had the chance to shop some famous wardrobes and enjoy a host of brands and stalls.
Founded by TV personality Dilly Carter, the sale included items from singer and style icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor, alongside a host of other names. The proceeds from the event were donated to The Eve Appeal, the leading UK gynaecological cancer charity and items left over from the event have now been passed on to The Salvation Army to be sold in a selected charity shop.
Customers will have the opportunity to shop Sophie’s iconic wardrobe, as well as many other celebrity donors. The resale of the items will help raise vital funds for The Salvation Army to continue to support the great work they do for the most vulnerable across the UK.
As the largest charity owned textiles collector in the UK, each year SATCoL, the trading arm of The Salvation Army diverts over 67,000 tonnes of textiles away from disposal and actively encourages the reuse and recycling of donated items through 250 charity shops and donation centres, and a nationwide network of clothing banks.
Kirk Bradley, Head of Corporate Partnerships at SATCoL shared, “We are very grateful to Sophie Ellis Bextor, Dilly Carter and other celebrities for their generosity. We are also pleased that an event like this has raised funds to support The Eve Appeal, the UK’s leading gynae cancer charity. The event highlighted the important role of charity shopping to encourage people to think about buying more second-hand. We are also delighted that items from Sophie’s personal wardrobe will be bought by some of our fortunate customers who happen to come across them, which will in turn raise funds for the important work of The Salvation Army!”
The Salvation Army provide practical help for people in need, such as specialist support for survivors and potential victims of modern slavery, shelter for those experiencing homelessness and so much more.
