Salvation Army Trading Company has won a coveted Drapers Sustainable Fashion Award.

The results of the Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards 2024 were revealed on 13 March at Hilton London Bankside, where the fashion industry came together at a glittering gala ceremony to celebrate the positive change that has taken place over the past 12 months.

This year’s event was extra special as Drapers co-located the awards with the market-leading, Drapers Sustainable Fashion Conference.

Judged by an independent panel of experts, this market-leading awards programme shines a spotlight on best practice within the industry, so others can learn how to change for good. The judging was underpinned by the UN-backed Sustainable Development Goals, which address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change and environmental degradation.

Returning for their fifth year, Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards shine a spotlight on fashion’s sustainable leaders, highlighting those who are reducing the industry’s environmental impact and creating fairer working conditions across the supply chain.

The awards cover the entire spectrum of sustainable fashion retail. Categories range from Best Supply Chain Initiative to recognition for Sustainable Store Design and Sustainable Textile Innovation. Our brand new category for 2024 was Best Social Enterprise or Charity Initiative.

The One to Watch winner was also announced following the Drapers’ Den live pitching competition, which took place earlier the same day at Drapers Sustainable Fashion Conference.

Salvation Army Trading Company has won in the Best Social Enterprise or Charity Initiative and was praised by the panel of expert judges. ‘Phenomenal’ is how one judge chose to describe this winner, while another shared that ‘It was the most innovative in terms of getting value out of everything.’

Gabriele Dirvanauskas, Drapers acting editor, said: “Fashion businesses are embracing their responsibilities and innovating across all areas of their operations in order to reduce the industry’s environmental and social impact. Drapers is proud shine a spotlight on the positive progress that is being made among industry peers as we continue to collaborate for positive change.”
