SATCoL Raises £1000 for Northamptonshire Rights and Equality

Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council

Colleagues from The Salvation Army Trading Company and beyond joined in a cycling challenge at Kettering Business Park last week to raise funds for Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council (NREC), and smashed the fundraising target set by 200%.

Northamptonshire REC’s vision is to challenge and eradicate discrimination (both personal and institutional) and prejudice or hostility in all its forms; so that all Northamptonshire’s diverse communities and citizens can enjoy peace, achieve their full potential and live free from injustice. They aim for a socially cohesive society in which diversity and human rights are recognised, celebrated and valued.

The challenge target was to cycle 232 miles (the distance from Kettering Business Park to Winchester), but the total number of miles completed was 347.75 – the distance from Kettering to Glasgow!

A total of £1000 was raised (including Gift Aid) and Anjona Roy, Chief Executive of The NREC shared:

“Thank you for your donations. It really means a lot to us and the victims of discrimination and hate crime that we support in Northamptonshire.”

This great initiative helped to support an organisation in our local community and the team at Salvation Army Trading Company are proud to wave a flag that echoes a message of hope and be part of the change they would like to see!
